| Guinea's geography ranges from humid coastal plains and swamps to the
fertile and forested hills and plateaus of the interior. The dry
season extends from November to May, but in the remaining months Guinea is
one of the wettest countries in West Africa; Conakry receives an amazing 4m
of rain, half of it in July and August. |

| The Futa Jalon: Most of West Africa is
flat and a welcome exception is the Fouta Jalon. This plateau, a
beautiful area of green rolling hills, where the temperature is cooler
than the lowlands, is a must for any visitor to Guinea (and well worth the
effort it takes to get there). At the heart of the plateau are the
towns of Dalaba, Pita and Labe'. Mamou is considered the gateway to
the Futa Jalon. Many feel the best time to visit for the good
weather is from November to January. Others feel that rainy season is
spectacular, as well, for the intense rain storms, numerous waterfalls, and
lush vegetation. |

This waterfall is called Bridal Falls (Le Voile de la
Marlie'e). A picnic lunch is enjoyed by many at the foot of the
falls. This is one of the few falls that can be driven directly to
the base of the falls. Wooden sculptures are sold there as
well. |
